Casa Rio Cottage: The cottage is situated on the Casi Nada Ranch, a 35-acre ranch that is two tenths of a mile from the Frio River and only minutes from Garner State Park. Bear Creek runs through the property and is a lovely walk or hike. The cottage is approximately ½ block from the river at Seven Bluff Cabins so you can walk from the cottage to the crossing to begin your float.
Featuring lovely views of Seven Bluff, green pastures with horses and miniature donkeys [and a couple of pet goats], the cottage is comfortable, convenient, and well equipped. On the front of the cottage is a porch area where you can gaze at the stars at night.
BED & BATH LINENS: Bed and bath linens are not furnished, but can be rented for a small fee to out-of-state guests. Frio Fergie's store on site has basic supplies and amenities. A Laundromat is also on site.
AMENITIES: The resort has a children's playground, basketball, and horseshoes. Each cabin has its own fire pit, barbeque pit, picnic table and 4 lawn chairs on porches facing Seven Bluff. The river frontage is from 100 to 300 yards from your door.
PETS: Guest may have 1 pet per cabin, 30 lb maximum (flexible in off-season). There is an additional charge for pets. No smoking in cabins, only on porch. The cabins are partially handicapped accessible.
MORE NOTES: Depending on the cabin, river frontage is from 50 to 300 feet down a gently sloped grassy trail through 385 pecan trees, bald cypress and oaks.
Shade from the pesticide-free grove is abundant in the summer and U-Pickem Pecans are available in the fall.
A favorite activity is relaxing on the cabin porches and enjoying the deer, birds, armadillos, turkey, and other wildlife as they come down from 7 Bluff to feed and seek sanctuary in the pecan grove. The bluff, grove, river and meadow combine to make excellent birding opportunities.
